What are MAMAS: Pre + Postnatal Sessions?

Similar to my other Works, MAMAS developed from personal exploration, professional training and the need to feel well in my skin, bones, and spirits. Resourced with knowledge and years of experience in body work, ELT Dynamics reaches out to both prenatal and postnatal mamas with empathy and expertise to guide you to a stronger physical and emotionally intelligent version of yourself. Welcoming you home to your amazing body as a mama.

A hybrid of experience and techniques informed by: Pilates, Bio-dynamic Craniosacral Therapy, artistic intuition and Core Corrective Exercises, this is a gentle body-centered and client-led process that supports the body’s natural intelligence to find balance and create space from within areas that sometimes become dormant, fatigued, or stressed from the trials of growing a baby and birthing to mothering. ELT Dynamics is here to support mamas that are wanting to know more about their bodies, improve their body’s functionality, or just to feel a bit more like themselves.

What is the process of sessions?

Your first session will centre around a case history and discussion about why you feel you need MAMAS sessions. 

During the session, you will perform a series of small movements that identify your current key movement strategies as well as perform any necessary checks for diastasis recti and if need be, referral for Pelvic Floor PT regarding concerns of any possible severe prolapse.

Once a case history profile and movement assessment is created, than I begin sharing with you the movement principles that will structure your developing practice. Typically this revolves around establishing functional breathing patterns, releasing diaphragm via thoracic spinal mobility exercises and addressing squat patterns. Trust me, these exercises are the bread and butter for feel-good pregnancy and postnatal bodies.

Through my clinical and artistic approach, I will centre the teachings around the whole body form thus providing an opportunity for your body to recognise and observe patterns. I find this is the key to embodying a self-resourcing way of life for positive long-term effects.

Each session will conclude with one or two homework exercises for you to develop between sessions. The homework is an integral piece of the puzzle to integrating and adopting new movement patterns. The next session will likely pick up themes from your previous session, however, I always will be led by your needs on the day.

During and after the session you may feel challenged both mentally and physically, this is the true magic associated with Pilates. You may become aware of ‘new’ parts of your body which might express sensations of tingling, deep heat, pulsations, release, lightness and length which is seen as part of the process.

I will check in with you throughout the session, but also encourage you to vocalise anything that comes up.

Anything that happens in a session remains confidential.

If you’ve been injured or are seeking physical therapy for conditions associated with pelvic floor health and diastasis recti, research is showing that Core Corrective Exercises can be an effective treatment. Discuss any treatment program with your healthcare team.

Session Duration & Details:

  • Studio Sessions are 50-minutes and cost £70 (C. London)/ £50 (Kent); this includes an initial wellbeing assessment followed by prescribed exercises.

  • Online Video Sessions are 1-hour and booked in blocks of 3 sessions and cost £100 total.

  • Block Studio Session bookings are available which are useful for guaranteeing you a weekly time slot.

  • I offer a free telephone consultation service if you would like to briefly discuss further prior to booking.

  • Need a physical therapist, osteopath, or acupuncturist recommendation, I have those contacts too.

MAMAS is suitable for all mamas, first-timers to well-seasoned.
